This is me!
Hi! My name is Muneet Kaur Malhi and I am a Canadian-born and raised Punjabi Sikh living in the US. I specialize in working with South Asians, specifically South Asian children of immigrants. I have first-hand experience with balancing multiple aspects of my identity and renegotiating that balance at various times in my life. I am intimately familiar with the difficulty of navigating paths not made for BIPOC individuals. Because of my own intersecting identities, I understand the importance of discussing intersectionality in therapeutic conversations. As someone in higher education, I understand the ideals and pressures of perfectionism and high achievement among Asian cultures.
In clinical practice, I focus on helping you understand YOU, at whichever stage of life you are in. My systems-based approach to therapy allows me to understand how different social and institutional systems may have influenced your individuality in a way that may or may not be congruent with who you wish to be. I incorporate a relational approach to therapy so I may be an active member in the therapy room with you as you do the vulnerable work of recovering and strengthening your sense of self. While I work with individuals across the lifespan, I have a niche interest in supporting adolescents and early adults (ages 18-24).
